FINDING THE RIGHT HOME INSPECTOR

Do not shop for prices - When you are looking for a home inspector, you are basically finding a person with your interest in mind. You will need to make sure that the inspector you're hiring has experience and training. The continuing education, training, and professional knowledge he needs for your home inspection does not come cheaply. This also means the expertise that comes with this learning is not going to be cheap either. Remember the saying, "You get what you pay for."

Check credentials - What organizations do they belong to? Not all organizations are equal. See what the organizations minimum educational training, experience, and professional ethics are.

Make your own decision - Did the real estate agent recommend on e particular inspector or tell you to make a choice on your own from a list of inspectors. There is a conflict of interest and ethics issue if you are not given the opportunity to make your own choice.

Ask for references - Most inspectors will gladly provide you with references from prior clients. Give them a call and find out for yourself.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND YOU WILL BE OK!
